Each state is different. You need to check around to see if you can obtain a non-owners policy with an SR22. That way you are a legal operator of a vehicle, and your SR22 can be filed with the state.

You can insure yourself with a non owner policy with an SR22 filed. You can never insure a car you don’t own, if you don’t own it you can not get a pay out for it if there was a loss. You have no “insurable interest”. The car has nothing to do with an SR22.
In Mass you def can get it. I guarantee it
You may be able to get a non-owner policy, but it might only cover minimum limits and the vehicle in question may need higher coverage according to the age of the car. I’m sure the agent that’s insuring the vehicle should be able to help you.
